Is Denim Eco-Friendly?

Manufacturing of one pair of jeans requires 3,781 liters of water, equivalent to 1 month of water usage for an average household.

Denim is NOT Eco-Friendly to Produce

Producing denim does have a significant negative impact on the environment because 1) the dying process pollutes nearby rivers, and 2) the cotton crop needed to produce the fabric requires a lot of chemical pesticides.

However, it's eco-friendly to wear. Good quality denim is a durable, timeless, and sustainable item to style in daily life, which you can keep in your wardrobe for many years.

Less than 1% of clothing is recycled.

The denim stock of this collection could not be resold or donated due to the defects, yet some are brand new or post-consumption with lasting quality and still in very good condition.

Instead of sending the textiles to landfill, Maison RE/WE adopted a 4-step method to repurpose them into stylish yet practical apparel and lifestyle items such as crop tops, skirts, handbags, and pocket rugs.
